Aiken County Celebrates 150 Years with New Exhibit Cut from existing portions of Barnwell, Edgefield, Lexington, and Orangeburg counties, Aiken County was created via a legislative act on March 10, 1871. However, the history of the cities, towns, and communities within Aiken County’s borders extend far beyond the year of 1871. Sign up for this monthly Aiken County Historical Museum house tour and find out just how much the wonderful building we know as “Banksia” has changed in its 86 years! The tour is begins at 1pm and is limited to 15. It is FREE, but you must have a reservation. If you can’t make the tour this month, don’t worry! The tour will be conducted on the fourth Tuesday of every month, with the exception of November and December.
