Aiken Center for the Arts – Summer Camps!

We offer an excellent selection of fun and enriching classes in many of the arts disciplines. Ages 4 to 18, will enjoy these fun camps. All camps are offered for one week per camp. Camps run on consecutive days for a week. Pre-registration is required for all camps. Taught by experienced art professionals, and designed to provide individual attention and feedback, our camps are sure to educate and inspire artists of all ages. All supplies are included unless otherwise noted in the camp description.

Camp Days are 9am to 12pm, and Night School is from 5pm to 8pm.

Camps Offered:

Every day is an artistic adventure! Campers will create artwork inspired by people, far away places, animals and all the fun stuff in life. Children will experience drawing, watercolor, acrylic, pastels and 3-D art in a variety of individual and collaborative projects. Each week offers new and different projects.

Theatre Camp is an exciting opportunity for students interested in building their acting skills, or even those looking to try something new. The week will include acting, theatre games, conquering stage fright, developing your character and writing an original play as a group. Walk over to Aiken Community Theatre for a backstage tour. Show off new skills with a live performance for parents on Friday.

Unleash that inner creativity! Campers will learn about masterpieces, famous artists, styles of art and how to find inspiration in everything! A variety of 2-D and 3-D projects offered. Individual and collaborative activities in many different mediums. Each week offers a new theme and different projects.

Students will discover art through exploration of their favorite art mediums in a studio setting. Taught by artists working in their area of expertise, these studios allow participants to try different mediums throughout the summer.

  • Printmaking Studio: Carve your own linocut, design and print a t shirt, explore monotypes and other methods of printing.
  • Pottery Studio: Learn different pottery techniques while creating and glazing, completing your own unique pieces of pottery.
  • Comic/Anime: Learn how to draw and develop original characters and how to use essential visual storytelling techniques.
  • Sculpture: Learn 3-D art-making techniques to create sculptures from wire, paper mache, cardboard, or recycled objects to create original artworks.
  • “Like the Masters” Painting: Be inspired by famous artists while creating paintings of your own.
  • ANIME 3-D: Design an original character and make it three dimensional while working with textiles and paint. Leave with a
    large stuffed character.
  • “Say it with Color” Painting: Explore color while working on a variety of painting projects including a collaborative mural.

NIGHT SCHOOL AGES 15+  (Only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
Hey high school students! Don’t let Night School fun happen without you. Join us this summer for some great evening fun!

  • T-shirt Printing: Learn a screen printing process to create your own t-shirt design. Use multiple colors, create ombre effects or even use glow in the dark ink!
  • Pottery Wheel: Students learn the basics of throwing clay on the pottery wheel. Limit of 5 spots.
  • Urban Art: Learn to work with spray paint and create imagery on a large scale. Let your individual ideas and voice come out as you develop an image & text.

Crafty Kids Online Art Camp

Four Weeks, Once a Week
Ages: 5-9 (Suggested)
Duration: 45 Minutes
Cost: $45 (Sibling Discount %25)

Live classes: Saturdays, 2:00 pm EST -or- catch the recordings afterwards if that time doesn’t work for you!

Each session is different, so sign up for either or both!

Let’s use simple supplies and items we can find around the house to make some fun and colorful crafts!

Catch the live classes each Saturday at 2:00pm EST, or catch the recordings afterwards, whenever you like!

Shop for your own supplies or order a kit from us! Our kits are $45 (free shipping)

  • Construction Paper
  • Small Set of Tempura Paints and brushes
  • Markers (fat and skinny)
  • Regular Pencil, Eraser, Scissors, Ruler
  • Rubber Cement Glue (preferred) or White School Glue
  • Various Household Items

Aiken Center for the Arts Summer Art Studio (Ages 11-14)

Students will discover art through exploration of their favorite art mediums in a studio setting. Taught by artists working in their area of expertise, full or half-day programs allow participants to try different mediums in the mornings and afternoons.

Week Theme: Textiles and Painting

Textiles: Learn to use a loom to weave functional and decorative art. Work together on a large installation in the main gallery. Explore dying fabrics with natural resources.

Painting: Create colorful paintings of real objects using acrylic paint. Topics include color mixing, color theory, and mark making techniques.

July 22nd – July 26th

Get your passport to creativity! Participants will explore destinations around the world through a variety of mediums, styles and artists. Individual and collaborative activities. Full or half-day programs are available, with different projects offered in the mornings and afternoons.

Tire City Summer Clay Camp (Ages 9 – 13

Tire City Potters is proud to announce we will be hosting a summer camp this upcoming 2019 season. We will offer half and full day camp cycles for a 5 day camp. Aspiring potters, kids who love to create, build and get messy from ages 9-13 are invited to come learn about the ceramic process and various techniques to manipulate clay. Children attending need to be able to respond to instruction and be mindful of safety precautions given (Liability form will be provided). Our camp will feature an appropriate number of activities for half day campers and full day campers. The campers will learn how to prep clay, coil build, slab build and sculpt. As well as how to use the potters wheel, glaze, and even be a part of the firing process! See itinerary below. We ask that parents bring their children in clothes/shoes that can get messy. Also, please pack your little camper snacks, lunch, and water to stay hydrated.

There will be a $45 deposit for every camper and the additional amount of campers fee will be expected the first day of camp.

Half Day Week: $275
Full Day Week: $500

Glazing Days will be provided to finish campers work.
Clay pieces must be properly dried, fired and washed before glazing.
We will provide 4 total glazing days that any camper may attend.
