Augusta Players Musical Theatre Summer Camp (Session 1)

The Augusta Players is a nonprofit community theatre. We have been in the entertainment business since 1945 and we know how to teach your kids to have fun onstage! Join in the fun at the Augusta Players Summer Theatre Camp! Each camp is a two?week program for children ages 6 to teen.  During these camps, emphasis is placed on learning the craft of theatre to include what goes on backstage as well as onstage. Each group has classes in music, dance and most important—ACTING! The two-week session culminates on the final afternoon in a showcase where our students will present a program of prepared scenes, readings and musical numbers.

Session 1
Monday June 3-­ Friday, June 14
Session 1 will be held at a St. John United Methodist Church, 736 Greene St. Augusta, GA 30901.

Session 2
Monday June 17 — Friday, June 28.
Session 2 will be held at The Church of The Good Shepherd 2230 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904.

There will be a showcase performance at 1:00pm on the final day of each session at Evans High School. A camp t-shirt is included in the fee.

FEES
The fee for each session is $295.00
Master Class: $325.00
Family discount: 2 children – $250 each, 3 children – $225 each (Please call to apply these discount prices)

LEVELS
LEVEL 1—Ages 6-8 (or K — 2 nd grade)
LEVEL 2—Ages 9-11 (or 3th — 5th grade)
LEVEL 3—Ages 12-16 (or 6 th — 11th grade)
MASTER CLASS-Ages 9 and up.

MASTER CLASS (very limited class size)
The Master Class level is for those students who have had prior community theatre or high school theatre experience. Those who have had parts in our own Jr. Players or Mainstage productions will have first choice for slots in this category. For anyone else to be considered for the Master Class, a theatrical bio must be included with the registration form. This year our Master Class will include scene study and monologue intensives. All Master Class participants must bring a prepared monologue and a 32 bar audition from a musical theater show.

HOURS
All sessions begin at 9:30 am and end at 2:30 pm, Monday-Friday only. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch and a snack.

Class sizes are limited  so please get your forms in early. Pre-registration is required in order for your child to receive a t-shirt.

‘Annie Get Your Gun’ – Presented by Thompson High School

The Thomson High School Bulldog Players present Irvin Berlin’s “Annie Get Your Gun”. Annie Oakley and Frank Butler meet when she beats him in a sharpshooting contest at Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show and the two have to negotiate between their competitive sides and their blossoming love for each other. With a book by Dorothy and Herbert Fields, and a score by Irvin Berlin, this is a wonderfully written show and will be wonderfully performed. Please come out on April 25-27 at 7:00 PM to see this fantastic production of the classic show “Annie Get Your Gun”.

Auditions for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Everyone’s favorite flying car comes to life in the musical adaptation of the beloved family film. Take a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world story that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book, and featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one family-friendly blockbuster that audiences will find “Truly Scrumptious”.

Audition Date: Saturday, February 9, 2019
Adults: 10 AM – 1 PM
Children: 1 PM – 3 PM

Callbacks if needed will be on Sunday, February 10, at 2 PM.

SINGING
Please prepare a verse and a chorus of a Broadway-style song to sing that demonstrates your vocal range and abilities. An accompanist will be provided, but you must provide your own sheet music unless you are singing from the show (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang).

No acappella singing, please, but singing with an accompaniment cd with no vocals will be acceptable. A CD player will be provided. If you choose to use your phone a mini-jack (ear phone style cord) will be provided. If you need an iPhone charger style cord, that must be provided by you.

DANCE / MOVEMENT
A dance combination will be taught. Please be prepared for movement by wearing comfortable clothes. A hard-soled, closed toe shoe is preferred. Gymnastics a plus.

Please bring personal calendars and be prepared to list all conflicts (Mondays-Sundays) beginning with March 4, 2019 through Sunday, May 12, 2019. Please do not assume that we know when any general holidays are (i.e., spring break) and plan to list those as conflicts if you will be out of town or otherwise engaged. Conflicts must be noted at the audition. Only conflicts noted at the audition will be taken into consideration.

NO CONFLICTS ALLOWED FROM April 29 – May 12, 2019.
