Karen Brown, the legendary Principal Ballerina of the Dance Theatre of Harlem, will be leading a bi-monthly Business of Dance Master Class Workshop series at the Jessye Norman School of the Arts. Ms. Brown will present a series of lectures focusing on the business of dance, the transition to professional dance artist, and Master Class Workshops in accelerated learning techniques starting in February 2019.
On Saturday, February 9 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. the Jessye Norman School of the Arts again partners with Karenina to present “In Conversation with Karen Brown,” a FREE introductory session.
Ms. Brown will provide an overview of her life and career as she became a legendary ballerina, and the steps she took to become a success. The demonstration of accelerated learning techniques will include how she uses high speed video cameras and computerized motion analysis (CMA) plus Reinforced Motor Function (RMF) for Ballet Application to train dancers who want immediate and improved results in their mind body awareness (proprioception), alignment, flexibility and strength. Participants will have an opportunity to sample the curriculums and register for components of the Master Class Workshop Series that will be offered on select Saturdays in 2019.

Every movement workshop will take place in the Jessye Norman School of the Arts’ Dance Room. Some seminars will be on the Knox Room stage on the first floor or in the Ann and Ellis Johnson Gallery.
Dress Code : Students must bring their own black leotards for dance classes, with flesh toned or black tights. Flesh toned ballet slippers or pink ballet slippers with pink tights or white socks are required.
