23rd Annual Christmas Songs and Stories with John Berry

Monday, December 16th, 2019 | 7 PM – 9 PM | The Imperial Theatre

John Berry has a new outlook, a new address and a new beginning.  The singer-songwriter rose to stardom on the country charts of the 1990s with such mega hits as Your Love Amazes Me, Standing on the Edge of Goodbye and She’s Taken a Shine. His annual Christmas tours brighten the holidays for thousands, as does his electrifying rendition of O’ Holy Night.

During his star-making decade, John placed 20 singles on the county charts, 6 of which went Top 5, with Your Love Amazes Me, scoring a #1 on the Billboard and Radio & Records Country Chart as well as Standing on the Edge of Goodbye and She’s Taken a Shine earning the #1 slot in Radio & Records . He has earned multiple Gold and Platinum records over the years. John was nominated for the ACM Top New Male Vocalist in 1994, won a Grammy Award in 1996 for his participation in Amazing Grace: A Country Salute to Gospel Vol. 1, was nominated for another Grammy in 1995 for his smash hit Your Love Amazes Me and was nominated for the CMA Horizon Award and Top Male Vocalist Award in 1995. In 1997 he was nominated for Vocal Event of the Year (for Long Haired Country Boy with Charlie Daniels and Hal Ketchum) and in 2013 John was nominated for the Mainstream Country Male Artist by the ICM Awards. And thanks to the miracles of modern technology, he even sang a duet with the late, great Patsy Cline.

“I love what I do, with a passion not seen in quite some time. I’m hopeful and excited about the future. I love singing and always will. I have a bus, an incredible stage presentation, a great band, hands-on management team and I’m always all dressed up and ready to go.”

He and his family moved back to Music City after several years in Georgia, and in 2017 John is pursuing a touring and personal appearance schedule that is more active than ever. Given his wide range of music and number of releases, John is fortunate in that he can book a solo show with just himself and guitar, a small-band acoustic show or a full-band engagement and has more than enough hit material to captivate a crowd and deliver an evening full of musical memories.

Christmas with Jamal Moore

Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 | 7 PM – 9 PM | Julian Smith Casino

The Augusta native returns home for an evening of holiday favorites, jazz classics, and original music. Collaborators include Trey Mclaughlin, Susan Zhang, Ashley Rivera, Joya Moore, and many more!

About Jamal:
Mix classical music with jazz, jazz with pop, and pop with gospel to discover an artist who truly understands the power in living in a musical world without categorical boundaries. Born and raised in the heart of Augusta, Georgia, Jamal discovered his love for music listening to the soulful gospel melodies of his grandmother and the funky rhythmic beats of his father. As a child, he began singing in gospel ensembles—including Creative Impressions—and, later formed an all-male trio—Intonation—that quickly rose to local fame with the group’s diverse musical talents. Throughout high school, he performed as a member of the Grammy Award-winning chorale at Davidson Fine Arts High School. There, Jamal received numerous accolades including placing first in the 2007-2008 GHSA State Literary Meet for boys solo. After graduating from Davidson, Jamal went on to attend college at the Eastman School of Music where he trained in opera. In 2010, he was awarded the William Warfield Scholarship, which acknowledges African-American students who excel musically and academically, while embodying the passionate spirit of the late, great, William Warfield. Eastman School of Music led him to finish his collegiate career with the University of Rochester’s a cappella group, The Yellow Jackets. Jamal joined the group in competing on Season Three of NBC’s The Sing-Off, where he was a featured soloist each week. As a soloist, Jamal won praise from the judges for his unique voice and ability to mix multiple genres at once. Jamal returned to The Sing-Off in Season Five, as a member of The Exchange. Since 2012, Jamal More has toured over fifty countries with The Exchange and released multiple albums across mainstream platforms. After years on tour, Jamal is now living his dream of creating music of his own and performing those hits for the world. He continues to release covers/mash-ups for his fans on YouTube and is working on his solo E.P. entitled ‘The Introduction’. His modern twist on a classical sound is what makes him a timeless musician. He has a presence and voice that you have to truly experience to believe.
