Exploring Abstraction Workshop with Lillie Morris

Friday, Feb 28 & Saturday, Feb 29th, 2020 | 10 AM – 5 PM | Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art

This two day workshop will include demonstrations and individual practice – encouraging you to let go of traditional visual references and subject matter. Develop your own visual language and improve your understanding of the principles of abstract painting through experimentation. To compliment your learning, there will be references to contemporary and historical examples of abstract art and abstract artists.

Topics Covered:
Elements of Composition
Mark-making and intuitive drawing
Paint application/manipulation & color
Texture & layering
Reworking

This course is designed for painters wishing to experiment with themes of abstract art, although it would also be suitable for beginners eager to experiment with abstraction & expressionism.

Storyland Theatre presents “Rapunzel” (School Shows)

School Shows are at 9:30 AM, 10:45 AM & 12:15 PM each day, Tuesday-Friday, January 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st, 2020. 

The traditional fairytale with a special Storyland twist.
Music and drama and even some laughs. Fun for the entire family. Performed by adults.

Reservations for school performances are required. Teachers and class chaperones are admitted free.
Special rates for Home School Groups. Ask about our scholarships for socio-economically disadvantaged schools.

Ticket prices:
Weekday Season Tickets to all 3 plays – $15 per student
Individual Show Tickets – $6 per student
(cash or check only, no credit cards please)

Weekday School Shows are for children Pre-K through Seventh Grade.
School shows are restricted to children, teachers and chaperones.

Holiday Bazaar and Ghostly Stories

Friday, December 13, 2019 | 6 PM – 9 PM | Aiken County Historical Museum

On Friday, December 13th, our parlor and ballroom will be filled to bursting with wares and products from local artisans. From 6pm to 9pm, you’ll be able to find all the things you need to fill your stockings and deck your halls! And after your shopping is finished, you can take a candlelight tour of Banksia, led by a few Aiken County specters. Gifts and ghosts, if you will! We are hoping to make this an annual event, so please spread the word and come shop with us!

Big Blue World Summer Workshop with RTC

Dates: July 15th – 19th, 2019
Time: 9 AM – 2 PM
Ages: Completed 1st Graders – Completed 7th Graders

Join Riverfront Theatre Company July 15th-19th for a fun week filled with Acting, Dancing, Singing, Costume and Set Design!! A Workshop Presentation will be held Friday Night at 6pm! All Workshop events will be held at the North Augusta Community Center! Big Blue World will cover all phases of the Theatrical Arts and is a perfect fit for any child interested in Musical Theater! Opportunities to grow and learn on stage and back stage! A snack will be provided, but children will need to bring their own lunch!
