Stories From a Big Chair | Aiken Center for the Arts

This fall at Aiken Center for the Arts, we will be telling stories from a big chair and you are invited. Join us as we share perspectives, build points of connection, and unearth the wisdom and inspiration amongst us.

Each evening, storytelling will be accompanied by wine paired with the theme of the evening as host Gary Finnan guides us through an evening of storytelling. Wine courtesy of Solovino.

Local Landscape Series: Aiken Hayfield | Aiken Center for the Arts

Instructor: Sharon Taylor Padgett
Date: Saturday, August 28, 2021

Time: 10:00am-1:00pm
Cost: $65

Follow Sharon step-by-step in creating a beautiful,
traditional style landscape inspired by a local
hayfield scene.

Techniques in painting sky,
trees, and grasses will be emphasized as well
as mixing color combinations and brushwork to
achieve a lovely romantic-style painting.

Students will complete an 11×14” acrylic painting.
No experience necessary. Supplies included.

Watercolor Special Topics: Florals | Aiken Center for the Arts

Instructor: Nanette Langner
Dates: Tuesdays, Aug 24,31, Sept 7
Time: 10am-12pm

These classes are designed to continue watercolor
education. Each three week course is different and
independent from each other. This summer,
we will explore the themes of landscapes,
animals, and florals. In each three week
course you will create three 5 x 7 paintings.

Candlelit House Planter with Madeline Fox | Aiken Center for the Arts

Instructor: Madeline Fox
Date: Saturday, August 14
Time: 10am-2pm

Using handbuilding techniques, create a small house with a textured roof, several windows and a planter!

When completed, you’ll be able to plant a small succulent in the “garden area.” Place a tea light candle inside and you’ll have a warmly lit, cozy house to enjoy daily. Use indoors or outside.

All supplies are included and individuals of all skill levels are welcome!

Please bring a lunch as there will be a 30-minute lunch break.

Resin Pouring with Gisela Sirrenberg | Aiken Center for the Arts

Instructor: Gisela Sirrenberg

Time: 10am-12pm

Learn how to use resin with acrylic paint, pigment or alcohol ink to create two beautiful pieces of art that have a stunning glossy surface. Incorporate stones and crystals to embed a textural element.

All supplies are included. No experience is necessary as all skill levels are welcome!
