Virtual Screening: Borderlands + Donor Q&A with: Tanya Aguiñiga and Postcommodity
October 27 @ 8:00 pmFree
Tuesday, October 27th, 2020 | 8 PM | Online Event
We are excited to invite you to our FREE, virtual screening of Art21’s Borderlands!
Plus, make a donation of any amount to join us for our special Q&A hosted by Board Co-Chair and Creative Capital Awardee Annie Han with Creative Capital Awardees Tanya Aguiñiga and Postcommodity.
Set in the US/Mexico border region —a site of political conflict, social struggle, and intense creative ferment—the piece explores how artists respond to one of the most divisive moments in the history of this area. It features Tanya Aguiñiga’s Creative Capital Project Art Made Between Opposite Sides, a series of artworks and engagements with the commuters and communities along the border, which was created to shape the narrative that arose during the 2016 election. It also features Postcommodity’s Creative Capital Project The Repellent Fence. The project was constructed to reaffirm the indigeneity of immigrant peoples, as well as the original inhabitants of the border region and became the largest bi-national land art installation ever exhibited on the US/Mexican border.
This event is part of our Creating Through Challenging Times Campaign.
In the middle of a pandemic, social justice movements, environmental crises, uncertain politics, and economic strife, we continue to support artists whose projects take risks and articulate original visions. We can’t do it alone!
