The Many Things That Fall in Between: Recent Work by Baker Overstreet marks the opening of the Morris Museum of Art Gala on Friday, March 1, 7:00 p.m. For reservations, contact Lauren Land at 706-828-3825 or email@example.com.
Baker Overstreet’s first solo show at the Morris Museum of Art features new paintings—in the artist’s words, “wildly colorful” works on panel, ranging from the very small to the very large. Predominantly abstract, they reference many things—“ghastly hybrid animals, seductresses, deviant clowns, and many things that fall in between.” These paintings represent a new direction for the artist: “to explore the relationship between imagined figures and their abstracted surroundings.”
Overstreet, a native of Augusta, studied painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, before earning a master of fine arts degree at Yale University. He now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in solo and group exhibitions and is widely represented in public, private, and corporate collections.
