The Lucy Craft Laney Museum Presents: Augusta’s Black Innovators Exhibition
August 23 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 8:00am, repeating until August 31, 2018
Show Dates: July 17th – August 31st, 2018
“Augusta’s Black Innovators” highlights contemporary “game changers” in Augusta. Although stagnant in growth during the last decade, Augusta has witnessed pivotal changes in its overall dynamics through the collective achievements of minority prodigies, young professionals, seasoned executives, and civic leaders. Innovations are felt throughout the River Region, radiating from Augusta as the core city.
The exhibition showcases many of the key individuals representing the spheres of education, medicine, law, religion, cultural arts, technology, sports, media, and business. Recently donated photographs from the Dugas Family Collection and Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society will also be showcased. Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance Company, Georgia’s first African-American insurance company, along with F.M. Dugas and Son, Augusta’s first African-American funeral home are recognized for the 120th anniversary of these two trailblazing enterprises.
