About the Knox Music Institute:
The Knox Music Institute is phase two of the rebirth of the Miller Theater, which reopened in January 2018 following a $23 million capital campaign. The project, led by 2KM Architects, Inc. and R.D. Brown Construction, involved removing the second floor ceiling to create a lofty two-story performance hall. The Knox Music Institute was part of the original vision of the Augusta Symphony board and major donors, who desired the Miller’s neighboring structure (formerly, Cullum’s Department Store, among other uses) to serve as a space for education and outreach.
The Institute is housed in two floors over the Miller Theater Box Office and serves as a small performance and lecture hall for the Augusta Symphony as well as a rentable venue and office space for the Miller Theater. It will also be the home of the Symphony’s Community Chords Music Therapy program, which launched in the fall of 2019.
