The Cinema Series at Augusta University presents ‘Earth’
August 29 @ 1:00 pm - 7:00 pmFree
Thursday, August 29th, 2019 | 1st Showing at 1 PM, 2nd Showing at 7 PM | Augusta University Maxwell Theatre
In 2016, The Cinema Series hosted the regional premiere of HOMO SAPIENS, Nikolaus Geyrhalter’s visually and tonally stunning examination of nature’s reclamation of abandoned man-made constructions. We are thrilled to announce that on Thursday, August 29, we will host the U.S. premiere of Mr. Geyrhalter’s latest work, EARTH. Mr. Geyrhalter has this to say of his new film:
“If we regard the Earth as an organism, then the Earth’s crust – its skin – is its most delicate organ. I wanted to take a closer look at the wounds we are inflicting upon the Earth. It was important for me to show the places and the deeds, to trigger associations and to prompt thought. I think it is the duty of the cinema to take audiences to places that would otherwise be very difficult to see.”
Please join us on Thursday, Augusta 29 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. for a rarefied opportunity to experience one of contemporary cinema’s most unique voices. EARTH is unrated and has a running time of 115 minutes.
FREE admission to The Cinema Series for Augusta University students, faculty, staff and the community is made possible by Student Life and Engagement and by the generous support of The Bee’s Knees and The Hive.
