Augusta Library:

UPDATE: Curbside service begins Monday, June 1st!

To help prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in our communities, the Augusta Richmond County Public Library System locations are closed to the public until further notice. Book return boxes are open at all locations Monday-Friday and are locked on weekends. Due dates on library materials will be extended. No fines will accrue during the closed dates. Pick up deadlines for materials on hold will be extended. Don’t forget! The Augusta Richmond County Public Library System offers many digital services including: access to downloadable e-Books and Audiobooks, the Augusta Chronicle Archives, GALILEO databases, Gale Testing and Education Center, and more! Access these at arcpls.org.

The Morris Museum

UPDATE: The Morris Museum is OPEN!
The regular schedule will resume: Tues – Sat, 10 AM – 5 PM and Sundays, Noon – 5 PM.
The museum’s library, the Center for the Study of Southern Art, will be open by appointment only.

Admission is FREE this summer: Friday, June 12 through August 31, 2020, thanks to the generous support of Bank of America!

To ensure the safety and well-being of staff and visitors, the following steps are being taken:

• Frequent sanitizing of all high-traffic areas.
• All staff will wear masks when interacting with the public.
• Visitors will be required to wear masks. (Masks will be provided to those who need them.)
• Plexiglas shields have been placed at the visitor services desk, museum store counter, and welcome desk in the main office,p.
• Sanitation stations have been placed throughout the museum.
• The number of visitors in the galleries and the museum store will be limited.
• All public programs have been postponed or rescheduled for a later date.
• Payment of admission fees and for museum stores purchases may be made by credit/debit card payment only.

 

Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History

UPDATE: The Museum is taking reservations for small groups starting late June.

  • Due to concerns related to the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the health and safety of the Museum’s staff and public, the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History has temporarily closed until April 30th or possibly until further notice.  We will continue to monitor the situation and re-evaluate, based on additional information and recommendations from public officials
  • April programs and events have either been cancelled or postponed.
    The Laney Museum Annual Golf Tournament in May will be rescheduled for 2021.
  • Please check back on our website and social media channels for updates. We look forward to welcoming our visitors back to the Museum soon. Our physical spaces may be closed but please stay engaged with our social media.

NOTE: YEARBOOKS WANTED
The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History is looking for donations or loans of yearbooks from A.R. Johnson Junior High School between 1967 and 1971. If you have yearbooks within this range please e-mail Corey Rogers at ocur761@gmail.com or call 706-724-3576.

 

Sacred Heart Cultural Center

  • Sacred Heart Cultural Center is now open for free tours, viewing of the art, and event consultations.
  • Guests are asked to please knock for admittance, wear a mask indoors, sanitize hands upon entry, and refrain from entering if any symptoms of illness are present. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@sacredheartaugusta) and consider purchasing a Support Ticket of any amount at www.sacredheartgardencityfestival.com.

 

Augusta History Museum

UPDATE: The Augusta Museum of History is OPEN!

  • To help prevent the spread of Covid-19, the Augusta Museum of History is limiting it’s capacity to 140 people until further notice.
  • Our sister site, the Ezekiel Harris House, will remain closed until further notice.
  • There will be new hand cleaning stations in the museum, and staff will be cleaning all high-touch areas throughout the day.
  • Many of the interactives have been turned off, but they will be reopened once it is safe to do so! Until then, AMH kindly asks that you not use them.
  • AMH encourages all visitors to wear masks. All staff will be masked. Floor markers indicating 6ft distance have been placed on the floors to help us all practice safe social distancing.
  • As for the programs of AMH, in order to discourage large gatherings, monthly programs such as the Brown Bag Lecture Series and Monday at the Museum will continue to be posted online.

Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art

  • With the COVID-19 epidemic evolving rapidly, we are continuing to prioritize the health and safety of our community and staff and will remain closed until May 1. We join many cultural institutions across the city and country who are also closing to help limit the further spread of the Coronavirus, and moving to remote work wherever possible.
  • Although our doors are temporarily closed, there are plenty of ways to stretch your creative legs. Check out our daily Art To Go activities and we will continue to post your artwork created at home on our social media. Online classes are being explored as well and we welcome any feedback and ideas from the community. We miss our faculty and students and can’t wait to get back to work!

 

Le Chat Noir

UPDATE: Le Chat Noir is opening for Schrodinger’s Cat presents: eXtreme Theatre Games (Socially Distanced Edition)!

  • From Le Chat Noir:
    Please bear with us as we implement precautions in an effort to minimize contact and reduce contagion factors. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated in this endeavor; please note, we do have the right to refuse service to anyone, and there are no refunds or exchanges.House capacity will be reduced, ticketing is now per table, and tables are 6’ apart. Special arrangements for seating may be requested ahead of time and we will do our best to accommodate.

    Any patrons with a fever will not be allowed in. Temperatures will be checked with a no touch thermometer at WILL CALL.

    Our patrons will not be required to wear masks, but we do ask that our patrons wear a mask unless they are eating or drinking.

    We ask that our patrons maintain social distancing as best they can by utilizing additional seating areas.

    All Le Chat Noir house staff will wear masks.

    Every 30 minutes a member of staff will sanitize door handles, light switches, faucet knobs, tables, etc.

    Register for payment will be separate from bar, so the cashier will not be touching consumables and bartenders will not be touching any form of payment. Touchpads will be wiped after each use.

    Hand sanitation stations will be set up in the lobby.

  • 4P Studios is still closed to the public, and has pushed all group class start dates closer to the end of May/beginning of June! Westobou

UPDATE: Westobou Gallery is back in action with a new exhibition featuring the works of three Augusta-based artists. Jennifer Onofrio Fornes, Brian McGrath and Raoul Pacheco come together to show a variety of mediums with themes of mortality, family preservation and self-reflection.

  • This exhibition is open NOW! Full exhibition dates are Friday, June 19th – Friday, August 7th, 2020. The gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 10 AM-5PM, Fridays from 10 AM-7 PM and Saturdays from Noon-4 PM.
  • Join us for a closing reception on August 7 from 5-8 PM (pending CDC guidelines and regulations).
  • Please review our safety guidelines before visiting the Gallery:
    MASKS – we will be requiring all patrons to wear masks in the Gallery.
    GROUPS – If you are visiting as a family or group who is social distancing together, please limit your party to four people to allow other patrons to visit at the same time.
    CHILDREN – If visiting with young children, we ask that you keep them close to you or in a carrier or stroller. Children over the age of ten will be required to wear a mask.

 

The Book Tavern

UPDATE: We’re open to foot traffic again Monday – Saturday 10am – 6pm. We’re asking anyone coming into the store to wear a mask, use our hand-sanitizing stations before and after handling books, and to observe 6 feet of distance between you and anyone not in your group. For those who don’t want to come to the store, we’re still offering contact-free curbside pickup and delivery. Just call the store or email us at orders@booktavern.com.

The Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson

UPDATE: Historic Augusta, Inc. is pleased to announce the reopening of the Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson on Friday June 26, 2020. This National Historic Landmark has been closed since March as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Guided
tours will be offered by appointment only on Fridays between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm. Tours will begin on the hour with the last tour beginning at 4:00pm. The museum will be closed, July 3 in observance of the holiday.

For the health and safety of our staff and guests and to be in compliance with current local, state, and national public health policies, the following procedures must be followed:

• Guests must make a reservation for a guided tour for a selected date and time. Reservations may be made by calling Historic Augusta as (706) 722-9828. We may not be able to accommodate walk-up patrons; walk-up patrons must call (706) 722-9828 to make a reservation for the next available tour.

• Guests must pre-pay for their tour to secure the reservation at the time of scheduling. Only credit/debit cards will be accepted as a form of payment. Each guided tour is limited to 6 total guests in their party. These guests should have a known relationship with one another, either family or friends.

• Guests must bring their own facial covering (mask or scarf) and the facial covering must be worn for the duration of the tour.

• Guests will call (706) 722-9828 upon arrival to alert the tour guide. All tours will begin in front of the Boyhood Home of President Wilson located at 419 7th Street. Parking is provided for guests in the adjacent lot at Historic Augusta.

• Guests are not permitted to touch any surface in the museum other than the staircase railing for safety. Hand sanitizer will be provided to guests while in the house.

  • Dear Supporters,
    Thank you for standing by us and the promoters of live events as we work through this unprecedented situation. While we are following all mandates, we are also working with each event individually to reschedule as many as possible for future dates.
  • When events resume, patrons will be notified on the Miller Theater website and social media.
  • If you are holding a ticket for an event scheduled before that date, please look for updated information on the ticket page for that show. If you do not see updated information yet, that means we are still working on new dates.  All tickets for the original date will be honored for any rescheduled dates and once the rescheduled dates are announced, we will offer full refunds for anyone who cannot attend the new date. This will allow those who have purchased to keep their seats, which is what our fans have asked of us.
  • Please keep in mind that our local box office hours will be reduced but assistance is still available by phone through our Etix call center. We appreciate your patience as we are not able to answer all individual questions at this time. We are all working to get through this and we look forward to meeting you here at the Miller Theater for your next show.

 

Imperial Theatre

Update on June 13th: WRDW ran a story last night about the latest Executive Order from the Governor’s office easing restrictions on Live Music Venues and other places of business. The Imperial Theatre is looking forward to welcoming everyone back soon!

  • Recent developments from Executive Director Charles Scavullo:
    In accordance with guidance received from local, state and Federal authorities, the Imperial Theatre will be closed to visitors at least through April 30th. We will re-evaluate the situation at that time and provide an update.
  • The Box-office continues to work remotely and will be available for calls to 706-722-8341 and e-mails to boxofficeimperial@gmail.com.
  • No walk-up business will be available throughout this period of time. We will actively attempt to reschedule any films for the Imperial Films Series which may have been, or may be cancelled whenever possible.
  • For those of you who would like a ticket refund for an upcoming event, which may have been cancelled or postponed for which you have purchased tickets, please contact the Box-office at the phone number or e-mail address provided above. (For concerns about Cinderella tickets, please contact the Augusta Players at 706-826-4707 or info@augustaplayers.org) Tickets will need to be returned to us for refunds. ENOPION Theatre Company

UPDATE: ENOPION Theatre Company announces it 2020 Fall Outdoor Performances to raise awareness and funds for the building of a new venue: Flowing Wells Theatre on Flowing Wells Road. The production is called “Into the Woods and Onto the Path” and is the story of how the Seed of the Woman prophesied in the Garden of Eden is completed in the resurrection of Jesus at the Garden of the Tomb. Tickets go on sale September 15th.
