Augusta Canal launches a new variation of its popular Moonlight Music Cruises on select Saturday evenings, beginning April 20. Performers will pay tribute to iconic song styles and singers of the 20th century with interpretations of jazz, pop, soul and Broadway greats.
“Our Friday evening music cruises have been such a hit that we decided to add some Saturday dates, but with a little bit of a twist,” explained Julie Boone, Augusta Canal coordinator for education and programs.
April 20 Vox-n-Bass salutes jazz great Billie Holiday. On May 18 Augusta’s own “piano man,” Jeremy Frobel, celebrates the songs of Billy Joel. The spotlight is on Motown melodies June 22 with the Art of Expression and the amazing vocals of Jonay Bailey. After a summer break, father-daughter duo Roger and Matilda take the boat across the pond for a Beatles tribute Sept. 14. And it’s Broadway on the Waterway October 19 with acclaimed vocalist Melanie Wade Larsen.
