This course will address the basics of setting up and composing an appealing still life, and it will help students in painting in the still life, using the painter’s tools of color, value, intensity, contrast, hard and soft edges, brushwork, and careful observation.  Through instruction, demonstration, and, especially, individual attention, this course will benefit both beginning and more advanced painters.  Beginners will learn an entry and an approach — a toe-hold — to the wonderful and challenging world of oil painting.   More advanced painters will enhance and refine their skills and learn methods for painting still lifes that are appealing and compelling.
