JAZZ AND AMERICAN MUSIC CELEBRATION WEEK at Augusta University!

Kentucky Serenade, featuring pianist Tim Brumfield and special guest vocalist Laurel Masse

Please join the AU Music Department and Wycliffe Gordon for “Jazz and American Music Celebration Week.” These concerts range from Americana Jazz with Kentucky Serenade, featuring pianist Tim Brumfield and special guest vocalist Laurel Masse, to classic big band swing with AU Jazz and the Conservatory Jazz Ensembles. We will also present the neo soul and R&B of the Russell Gunn Quartet, featuring Dionne Farris to soulful blues, funk, and rock and roll stylings of GG and the Tones, featuring Paisley Gordon and the Electrik Krazy Orchestra.

The group Kentucky Serenade was formed by Tim Brumfield and blends various Americana and folk music traditions with the elements of jazz rhythms, better known as “Americana Jazz” music. The group features Tim Brumfield on piano, Chuck Bergeron on upright bass, John Yarling on drums and special guest Laurel Masse on vocals. Best known as founding member of the famed Manhattan Transfer, Laurel’s expressive voice and swing style along with Tim’s outrageous improvisations on the piano, leave an indelible mark. Kentucky Serenade performs original music by Tim Brumfield, along with folk music and jazz pop standards.
