The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art is proud to present Gertrude Herbert: An Artistic Vision, Transformative Directors and Artists in the Main Gallery. On loan from local collections and curated by Molly McDowell, the exhibition highlights some of the most influential directors, instructors, and artists to show their work at the Institute throughout its 80 years of existence. The retrospective includes work by Edward Rice, Philip Morsberger, Sam Singal, Freeman Schoolcraft and many more. The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art’s history demonstrates the strong sense of comradery and support among local artists, organizations, and universities, all of which contributed to memorable exhibitions that served as the catalysts to our growth.
Artists include: Jackson Cheatham, Keith Rasmussen, Lanny Webb, Bea Kuhlke, Lucy Weigle, Freeman Schoolcraft, Elizabeth O’Neil Verner, Edward Rice, Kathleen “Kath” Girdler Engler, Arless Day, Luke Allsbrook, Philip Morsberger, Tom Nakashima, Sam Singal, William “Bill” Chew, Lamar Dodd, Janice Williams Whiting, James Rosen, Jean Lodge, Elmore Morgan, Jennifer Onofrio

Saturday – by appointment only (24 hours advanced notice required)
On display in the Main Gallery until January 11, 2019. Please join us for the closing reception on Friday, January 11 from 6-8 PM.
