Art of Peace Gallery Opening at JNSA

February 8 @ 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Free

On Friday, February 8, The ‘Art of Peace’, a collaboration between AmeriCorps VISTA’s and Future Successors and sponsored by the Robby Poblete Foundation, will feature artwork created by local artists. The original art on display features firearm remnants that were collected from 2018 Gun Buy-Back. The event will take place at the Jessye Norman School of the Arts and the program begins at 6:30 PM.

In addition, young adults from SafeHomes of Augusta will enjoy a teen mixer and share both their spoken work and creative arts . The event will culminate in a panel discussion following the viewing of “The Blood is at the Doorstep,” a documentary film shown by Jessye Norman School of Art, NEA, South Arts and Westobou. The film follows the death and aftermath of a young man of color with schizophrenia that is shot and killed by officers from the Milwaukee Police Department.

This event is free to the public and light refreshments will be provided by Humanitree House as well as Something So Right Catering.
