Thursday, May 30th || 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. || Twiggs Circle Roundabout
The Augusta Housing and Community Development Department, in collaboration with the City of Augusta, the Greater Augusta Arts Council, and the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History and Conference Center, is thrilled to announce the ribbon-cutting ceremony and community presentation of the Pillars of the Golden Blocks Sculpture at the Twiggs Circle Roundabout. The sculpture, a magnificent creation by the talented artist Ashley Gray, stands as a symbol of unity, resilience, and cultural richness within our community.
Inspired by Dr. Pollard’s book “Segregated Doctoring,” the Pillars of the Golden Blocks Sculpture embodies the spirit of collaboration and community upliftment. The vision for this extraordinary artwork was fostered by the Lucy Craft Laney Museum and the Committee for the Golden Blocks, who played instrumental roles in coordinating this effort.
We invite members of the media and the community to join us in commemorating this significant milestone and celebrating the Pillars of the Golden Blocks Sculpture, a symbol of unity and pride for the City of Augusta.
