CANDL Fine Art is pleased to present Presence, a solo exhibition of new paintings by artist ScottThorp. The exhibition opens on October 2, 2026, and will remain on view through November 13, 2026, at CANDL Fine Art, 1128 Broad Street, Augusta, Georgia. An opening reception with the artist will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Thorp’s paintings are non-narrative abstractions that explore formal visual systems. Through layers of colors, lines, and circular forms, he creates compositions that exist between order and disorder. The works can suggest both microscopic structures and expansive spatial conditions.

Scott Thorp is an artist, writer, and educator whose work focuses on creativity and contemporary visual culture. He serves as Chair of the Department of Art and Design and Associate Vice President for Interdisciplinary Research at Augusta University. Thorp earned a BFA in Drawing and Painting from Georgia State University and an MFA in multidisciplinary art from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
